Ick Alert! Laughably low-paying freelance writing gigs here

I almost didn't want to post the link, because if I hear you're writing for these rates, I may bang my head on a stucco wall.

If freelance writers had a union, writers who took gigs paying this poorly would be in trouble.

We don't have a union, of course. And having done gigs this low before, when I was just starting, I understand why you'd do it.

But I just want to encourage you to get a tighter grip on the value of your skill.

$1 for 500 words would be just fine... if you were desperate.

But knowing you could charge - and get - 100x that in some cases (or more!), makes it just plain silly to work for that rate.
