Portability and freelance writing II

After internet access, there's another potential portability glitch you should be aware of before you take your show on the road:

Your travel schedule.

Sure, you can work on an airplane... offline.

But you're at the mercy of your laptop's battery, turbulence in the air, the crying baby (sweet little thing, but not happy!), and droopy eyelids from getting up at 4 a.m. to get to the airport on time.

And odds are, you may have a couple of hours driving to the airport, and a couple driving to your final destination. All that can leave you feeling more like getting a nap rather than getting cracking on some work.

All in all, if you manage to get some work done on a travel day, great! But I don't recommend scheduling deadlines then or counting on being as productive as if you were home.
